Silicon lottery

Silicon lottery is the manufacturing variation that makes two identical-model chips need different voltages and reach different stable clocks.

Not measurable from a browser

A browser cannot read temperatures, power draw, fan speed, VRAM capacity, clock frequency or native FLOPS. For a direct reading use a native monitor such as HWiNFO64, GPU-Z or lm-sensors. SystemCheck contributes the other half: whether the condition is costing you throughput, measured as decay and consistency.

Semiconductor fabrication is not perfectly uniform across a wafer. Transistor threshold voltages, leakage, and defect density vary from die to die, so two processors with the same model number can differ by 100-300 MHz in stable overclock and by 50-100 mV in the voltage needed for the same frequency. Vendors bin parts into product tiers, but variation remains within each tier.

This matters most for undervolting and overclocking. A voltage offset that a forum post reports as safe may be perfectly stable on the author's chip and cause silent data corruption on yours. Every voltage setting has to be validated on your own hardware. There are no transferable settings.

It also matters when comparing benchmark results. A 5% gap between two supposedly identical systems can be lottery variance plus cooling differences rather than any configuration problem. SystemCheck shows run-to-run variance within your own machine, which is the right baseline for deciding whether a change you made actually did anything.
