The free run loads the graphics card twice: a lit 3D scene for frame rate and pacing, then a path tracer that keeps the card busy for the rest of the run.

A fixed resolution

The scene renders at 1600 by 900 whatever the window size, so every card draws the same pixels and a faster card simply finishes more frames.

Timed to the last frame

Every frame ends on a GPU sync point, so a frame time is how long the card took to finish it, not how long the browser took to queue it.

Path tracing to the end

A path tracer then runs samples back to back at 960 by 540, the heaviest work a browser can give a graphics card, which is where thin laptops separate from desktops.

Warm-up left out

The first seconds are excluded to cover shader compilation. A hidden tab pauses the stage and its clock, and the report says so.

Speed and smoothness are different numbers.

A single average hides stutter. The report gives frame rate, how evenly frames arrived, and how much of its opening speed the card kept.

Frames per second

The median of the best one-second windows. If frames finish faster than the timer can measure, the report marks the figure as a lower bound.

Smoothness

The share of one-second windows close to the median. A card that is fast on average but stutters scores lower here.

Slowdown

Whole ten-second camera periods from the start compared with the last ones, so like is compared with like. A drop inside the run's noise shows as 0%.

Samples per second

How much path tracing work the card completed, and how steadily, while it stayed under constant load.

What a browser cannot see

The honest limits, and where to look instead.

  • How full your memory is

    A web page cannot see how much memory is in use. If the machine slows down with many apps or tabs open, check it directly.

    On a Mac: Activity Monitor, Memory tab: Memory Pressure at the bottom. Yellow or red means memory is the limit.

    On Windows: Task Manager (Ctrl+Shift+Esc), Performance, Memory. Above about 85% in use while you work means memory is the limit.

  • Temperatures and fan speed

    No browser can read a temperature sensor, so heat shows here only as speed lost over time.

    On a Mac: A free app such as Stats shows temperatures and fan speed.

    On Windows: HWiNFO, or your laptop maker's own app.

  • Storage speed and health

    Opening apps and files depends on the drive, which this test does not touch.

    On a Mac: Disk Utility, then First Aid on your main drive.

    On Windows: CrystalDiskInfo shows the drive's health status.

GPU stress test, answered

Can I stress test my GPU online without downloading anything?
Yes. This test loads your graphics card through the browser and times every frame. Nothing is installed and nothing is uploaded.
Is an online GPU stress test safe?
Yes. Graphics cards slow themselves down to protect against heat long before damage is possible, and the run stops the moment you close the tab.
Why is my frame rate marked as a lower bound?
When frames finish faster than the browser timer can resolve, or land exactly on your screen's refresh interval, the true rate may be higher. The report says so rather than showing a capped number as your card's speed.
Does it show GPU temperature or VRAM use?
No. No browser exposes graphics card temperature, power draw or video memory. The test measures speed, smoothness and slowdown instead.
Will integrated graphics work?
Yes. The scene is moderate on purpose, so integrated graphics finish the test and still produce a meaningful frame rate, smoothness and slowdown.
