Should I turn off turbo boost on my laptop?
It is a legitimate trade rather than a tweak. Disabling or limiting boost stops the chip from briefly drawing far more power than its base rating, which produces a cooler, quieter machine with better battery life and slower bursts.
It is worth doing on a laptop whose fan noise or lap heat genuinely bothers you, or when you need maximum runtime. It is the wrong fix for a machine that is throttling, since you would be solving the problem by accepting it.
