Why people look for an alternative
- Runs are short, so results characterise burst and boost behaviour much better than sustained performance.
- The full feature set is a paid product.
- A single composite score can flatten meaningful differences between workload types.

SystemCheck
This siteA browser-based stress test. Four stages (a sustained multi-core CPU load, a memory bandwidth and latency stage, a GPU raster load and a path-tracing load) with no install and no account for the core test. It reads the shape of the CPU curve to name why performance fell: a power budget expiring, cooling falling behind, or something else contending for the cores.
- Best for
- Finding out whether a machine holds its performance under sustained load and, when it does not, why, on any desktop OS, without installing anything.
- Limitation
- It cannot read temperatures, power draw, fan speed or VRAM. No browser exposes an API for them. Results are directional rather than lab-grade and move with browser, driver and background load.
When Geekbench is still the right choice
Geekbench is genuinely hard to beat for its core purpose: comparing a phone, a laptop and a desktop on one scale, across Windows, macOS, Linux, Android and iOS. No other tool on this page spans that range, and none of them work on mobile at all.

- Not among the tools on this page. Cinebench, PassMark, 3DMark and SystemCheck are all desktop-oriented; SystemCheck explicitly blocks phones and tablets rather than serving a fallback result. Cross-platform mobile coverage is the thing Geekbench does that its alternatives largely do not.
- Which is better for spotting thermal throttling?
- Neither Geekbench nor a single short benchmark run is well suited to it, because throttling shows up after a machine has heated up. A sustained run is what reveals it. SystemCheck reports decay across a sustained load directly and names the shape of it, which is what separates throttling from a power limit; alternatively, loop any benchmark and watch whether the score falls between iterations.
