What each tool is

SystemCheck is a browser-based stress test. It runs four stages (a 60-second sustained multi-core CPU load, a memory bandwidth and latency stage, a GPU raster load and a path-tracing load) in three minutes, with no install and no account for the core test. It reports throughput alongside decay and consistency over sustained load, rather than a single peak number, and it classifies the shape of the CPU curve to name why performance fell. It cannot read temperatures, power draw, fan speed or VRAM size, because the web platform exposes no API for any of them, and its results are directional rather than lab-grade.

Geekbench, from Primate Labs, measures single-core and multi-core CPU performance along with GPU compute, using a set of short workloads modelled on common real-world tasks. Its defining feature is reach: it runs on Windows, macOS, Linux, Android and iOS, which makes it one of the very few benchmarks that can put a phone and a workstation on the same scale.

Results are published to the Geekbench Browser, a large public database that has accumulated years of submissions across an enormous range of devices. This is one of the most complete cross-device comparison sets available anywhere, and it is free to search.

Geekbench's workloads are short by design. The suite is a measure of peak capability rather than endurance, and this is a documented characteristic rather than a flaw. SystemCheck is built around the opposite question: what happens once the load stops being brief.

Where Geekbench is stronger

These are the dimensions where Geekbench beats SystemCheck outright. Some are structural: a browser cannot reach hardware sensors at all.

  • Geekbench runs on Android and iOS as well as desktop operating systems. SystemCheck does not support mobile at all in v1.
  • Its public result browser is an unusually deep cross-device database. Comparing a laptop against a phone against a server is something SystemCheck cannot offer.

Questions

Does SystemCheck work on a phone?
No. SystemCheck requires a desktop or laptop browser with WebGL2 and does not support mobile in v1. Geekbench has Android and iOS applications and is the right tool for a phone or tablet.
Why does SystemCheck report decay when Geekbench does not?
They are answering different questions. Geekbench's workloads are short by design, which makes them a clean measure of peak capability. SystemCheck holds a multi-core load for 60 seconds specifically to see how much of that peak survives, which is a different and narrower thing to measure.
Are SystemCheck and Geekbench scores comparable?
No. They use different workloads on different scales, and SystemCheck runs through a browser while Geekbench runs natively. Neither score converts into the other.
Which one should I trust for a purchase decision?
Geekbench, generally. Its database is large enough to place almost any device, and its native measurement is more precise. SystemCheck is more useful after the purchase, for checking that the machine in front of you behaves the way its class should under load.
