Is it safe to stress test my graphics card?
Yes, for a healthy card. Modern graphics cards reduce their speed when they reach a temperature or power limit, and shut down if that is not enough, well before heat can damage them. A stress test uses that protection; it cannot switch it off, and a browser-based test cannot even reach the settings that would.
The real risks are faults that already exist: a fan that has stopped, a cooler that has come loose, a power supply too weak for the card, or an overclock pushed past what the card can hold. A stress test does not create those. It finds them.

Fix the hardware first. A dead fan or a loose cooler should be dealt with before any sustained load.
Measure it instead of guessing

- Can a stress test kill a GPU?
- Not a healthy one. Protection throttles the card and then shuts the machine down before damage. A card that fails under a stress test had a fault that ordinary gaming would eventually have found.
- What temperature is too hot for a GPU under stress?
- It depends on the card, but most modern cards are designed to run between 70 and 85 degrees Celsius under load, with hotspot readings higher. Temperature alone is not the alarm; a card that is hot and also losing frame rate is the one worth attention.
- Is FurMark safe?
- It is an unusually extreme load that some manufacturers discourage because it exceeds anything a game does. A realistic sustained load answers the same questions about stability and throttling without that extreme.
