Whether a machine performs the same way twice. Low consistency on a desk machine usually means something else is running, and that is worth knowing before you blame the hardware.

  1. 01A tight cluster with a long tail

    Normal ageing. The tail is small, identifiable and worth servicing rather than replacing. This is the cheapest win in the estate.

  2. 02A whole floor lower than another floor

    Look at the room before the machines. Ambient temperature, a blocked return-air path, or desks pushed against a warm wall will do this to a hundred units at once.

  3. 03One machine far below its twins

    A single unit with a real fault. Worth pulling for a clean-out before it becomes a ticket, because the person using it has probably already stopped reporting it.

Where a browser stops

What it cannot tell you.

  • There is no console, no agent and no fleet dashboard here. This is a page a person opens on a machine; collating the results across an estate is your process, not a feature.
  • No asset tag, no serial and no way to bind a report to a specific unit automatically. The report describes a machine, not an inventory row.
  • No temperature, no fan speed, no drive health. For an estate you will still want proper endpoint tooling; this answers a different question, cheaply, on any machine with a browser.

Across many machines the standard run is the practical one: about 3½ minutes each, and enough to rank the estate. Save the deep run for the units the standard run flags.

How do I use this across hundreds of machines without an agent?
Most teams do it as part of something a person is already doing at the desk: a support visit, an OS upgrade, a hardware refresh survey. It costs the technician three minutes and no install, which is usually the difference between a check that happens and one that does not.
Our machines are all the same age. Why would they differ?
Because ageing is environmental, not chronological. Dust, ambient temperature, how a desk is positioned, whether a vent has been against a partition for two years. Identical purchase orders produce very different machines by year three, and the spread is the useful signal.
Is a low score a reason to replace a machine?
Not on its own, and this is the mistake worth avoiding. A machine that slides badly is often a machine that needs an hour of cleaning, which is far cheaper than a replacement. Look at the shape first: a slide is usually serviceable, a hard limit usually is not.
