What laptop specs do I need for graphic design?

Design is the one workload where the screen outranks the processor: you deliver what you see, so the panel's colour truth is the product's quality control. Order of spend: screen gamut and accuracy, then RAM, then a comfortable processor, then storage, with the GPU mattering only for 3D and motion sidelines.

The fix

Integrated graphics serve the entry and much of the balanced tier. Buy GPU only for the sideline you actually run, and if that sideline is serious, read the video-editing guide's sustained-performance warnings too.

Measure it instead of guessing

The screen we cannot measure, but the batch-export half of design we can: a sustained run on a candidate machine, in the return window, tells you whether its processor holds up when fifty artboards export. Pair the curve with a colorimeter review of the panel and the two halves of the purchase are both verified.

What software cannot tell you here

  • Panel gamut, accuracy and uniformity are physical measurements; a colorimeter or an instrumented review owns them, and no web test substitutes.
  • Pen latency is felt, not benchmarked from a browser; test with your own hand before the window closes.
