Why is my laptop still slow after a factory reset?
Give it a day first. A freshly reset machine reinstalls updates, rebuilds its search index and re-downloads your applications, and all of that runs at once. A great deal of post-reset slowness is simply that work in progress.
If it is still slow after everything has settled, the reset has done you a favour: it has eliminated software as the cause. What remains is missing drivers, a hardware limit the machine always had, thermal decline, or a restored backup that brought the problem back with it.

Measure it instead of guessing
Run the test once the machine has settled. A clean installation is the fairest possible conditions, so a curve that still slides is strong evidence of a thermal or hardware limit, and a healthy curve alongside a machine that feels slow points at the specifications rather than at anything you can fix.
