Diagnose
Is it throttling? Yes or no, then how much, then why.
A question with a measurable answer. The test loads every core, watches the curve, and writes the answer in words before it shows a number.
What the report tells you
Three figures, each with its reading.
The answer
plain words
The report's first screen says whether the cooling is good and what the machine is good for, before any chart.
How much
%
Decay across the run. The figure sits next to the shape so it is read the right way.
Why
named
Power budget, cooling, or another program, with a confidence and the measurement's noise floor stated.
The diagnosis
The shape of the curve, read for your case.
01Held
No. The machine kept its level for the length of the run.
02A single step down
Yes, on a power limit. Normal on most laptops and many desktops; adjustable in firmware, not with a fan.
03A steady slide
Yes, thermally. The cooler is the limit and the usual fixes apply.
Every class comes with a stated confidence and the measurement’s own noise floor. How the shape is read
Where a browser stops
What it cannot tell you.
- No temperature or clock: the browser measures throughput, and the shape of it is the evidence.
- A run with other programs on the cores looks like a slower machine; the report flags starvation when it can see it and says when a run is not comparable.
- Forty-five seconds is enough to see a step and the start of a slide; a large desktop may need the deep run to reach its settled level.
Which run
Standard, 3 minutes.
The question is answered in a standard run. If the curve is still falling at the end, the deep run finds where it settles.
Both kinds are free. The choice is on the set-up screen.
Questions
Asked in these words.
- How do I know if my PC is throttling?
- Run a sustained load and watch throughput over time. If it falls after the first seconds and stays down, the chip is throttling. This test does that in a browser tab and states the answer in words on the first screen of the report.
- Is throttling bad?
- Not by itself. A single step to a power limit is the design of almost every laptop. A slide that loses a fifth of the machine's performance is cooling that needs attention. The report distinguishes the two.
- Do I need to install anything?
- No. The test runs in the browser with nothing installed and nothing uploaded unless you ask for an emailed copy of the report.
