What each tool is

SystemCheck is a browser-based stress test. It runs four stages (a 60-second sustained multi-core CPU load, a memory bandwidth and latency stage, a GPU raster load and a path-tracing load) in three minutes, with no install and no account for the core test. It reports throughput alongside decay and consistency over sustained load, rather than a single peak number, and it classifies the shape of the CPU curve to name why performance fell. It cannot read temperatures, power draw, fan speed or VRAM size, because the web platform exposes no API for any of them, and its results are directional rather than lab-grade.

3DMark is developed by UL Solutions and is the most widely cited GPU benchmark in hardware reviews. It ships a series of named tests (Time Spy, Fire Strike, Steel Nomad, Port Royal and others) each targeting a specific graphics API and workload class, and it maintains a very large searchable database of submitted results. It is a paid product with a limited free edition available on Steam.

3DMark also includes a dedicated stress test mode that loops a benchmark scene repeatedly and reports a frame-rate stability percentage, and its hardware monitoring charts temperature, clock and power telemetry alongside the run. This is a direct overlap with what SystemCheck measures, and 3DMark does it with real sensor data that no browser can access.

SystemCheck is not competing with 3DMark on precision. It competes on access: no install, no purchase, no Windows requirement, and a result in about three minutes from a browser tab.

Where 3DMark is stronger

These are the dimensions where 3DMark beats SystemCheck outright. Some are structural: a browser cannot reach hardware sensors at all.

  • 3DMark reads real sensor telemetry (temperature, clocks and power) during a run. SystemCheck fundamentally cannot, because no browser exposes those readings.
  • It runs natively against the graphics driver with no browser or translation layer in between, so its numbers are more precise and more repeatable than anything measured through WebGL2.
  • Its results database is enormous and searchable, so any score has a deep field of comparable systems behind it.
  • It is an established reference in hardware journalism, which makes its numbers directly comparable with published reviews.
  • Its dedicated stress test loop runs far longer than SystemCheck's 60-second sustained stage, which is a better probe for slow thermal saturation.

Use SystemCheck when you want a fast read and cannot install software: a locked-down work machine, a laptop you are evaluating before buying, or a quick check after a driver update. It is also the easier option if you are on macOS or Linux, or if you want a combined CPU and GPU picture in one short run. It is also the one to reach for when the question is why a machine got slower: the report names the shape of the loss and puts the retest next to the run it is trying to beat.

Is SystemCheck as accurate as 3DMark?
No, and it does not claim to be. 3DMark runs natively against the graphics driver; SystemCheck runs through a browser's WebGL2 implementation, which adds a translation layer and makes results sensitive to browser version and background activity. SystemCheck results are directional. For a defensible figure, use 3DMark.
Can SystemCheck show my GPU temperature like 3DMark does?
No. The web platform exposes no API for temperature, power draw, fan speed or VRAM size, so no browser-based tool can report them. If you need to see the thermal curve, you need a native tool.
Why use SystemCheck at all if 3DMark exists?
Access. 3DMark requires a Windows machine, a multi-gigabyte install and, for most of its tests, a purchase. SystemCheck needs a browser tab and about three minutes, which makes it usable on machines and operating systems where 3DMark is not an option.
Does 3DMark also measure sustained performance?
Yes. It includes a stress test mode that loops a scene and reports a frame-rate stability percentage, and it charts hardware telemetry alongside it. Sustained measurement is not something SystemCheck does and 3DMark does not. SystemCheck's difference is that it does it without an install.
