How much slower is a laptop than a desktop?
For short tasks, often barely slower. For sustained work, considerably, and the reason is power rather than silicon: a laptop version of a chip runs at a fraction of the desktop's wattage and shares a small cooling system, so it settles where a desktop holds.
The badge is the same and the delivered performance is not. A laptop graphics card carrying a familiar name can perform closer to a desktop card a full tier below it, depending on the wattage the maker configured.
